Preschool and Primary 1

Preschool and Primary 1

Our music classes for preschool children and children in Primary 1 are designed to offer a fun, yet structured introduction to the key musical concepts of pulse, rhythm and pitch. Children enjoy lots of songs, rhymes, circle and partner games and are taught to read and write simple rhythmic notation and use solfa handsigns (do-re-mi etc) in preparation for learning a musical instrument. Flash cards, whiteboards and a variety of hand held percussion are used to help develop the children’s skills in singing, playing, reading and writing music

And that concludes another year! We've had a fantastic year at GCMS with many new children starting their musical journeys with us, over 30 pupils sitting (and passing!) ABRSM exams, three concerts, eight Piano Play Days, several parent sharing sessions, lots and lots of singing and dancing and over £300 raised for the Beatson and Glasgow Children's Hospital charities! A huge thank you to everyone who has been part of our school this year and a special big thank you to my incredible team of tutors who work so hard each and every week teaching our young people. We are now closed for the Summer and look forward to welcoming everyone back again in August. I'll leave you with our Junior Strings Ensemble performing Inisheer at our Spring Concert - a definite highlight of the year for me! Have a great Summer everyone. Katie x ❤️ 🎻 🎹 🎸 🎶 ...
