Guitar Lessons

The guitar is a popular choice for young beginners because it is a fun and relatively inexpensive first instrument. We offer individual (1:1) and shared (2:1) guitar lessons. Children are taught different guitar techniques including strumming and chords as well as how to read tab and from a musical stave. Children also learn aural skills, including playing by ear, simple improvisation and ensemble and performance skills. For pupils who wish to do so, there is the option to sit exams through ABRSM. Trial lessons available on request.

Another merit and distinction for our final two violin pupils who sat ABRSM exams earlier this month! A special mention for Rose who gained a distinction, the highest mark possible in her first ever exam! What a great accomplishment! We are so proud of all our pupils who sat graded exams this year. Not only do we have some talented pupils at our school we are also so lucky to have a whole team of incredibly talented tutors! As well as being fantastic teachers they are also involved in a wide range of other projects. Aileen Sweeny, our whistle tutor at our After School Music Club, is a very accomplished and highly regarded composer. She was recently commissioned to write a new piece of music entitled "Glisk" which was performed last week by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra as part of their Nordic Music Days Festival.
