Piano Lessons

Piano Lessons

The piano is a very popular beginner instrument and is one of the few instruments that allows you to play the melody and accompaniment at the same time. Easy to start playing straight away, the piano also lends itself to a wide variety of musical styles from rock and pop, to jazz and classical. We currently offer individual (1:1) and shared (2:1) piano lessons. As well as learning instrumental technique and how to read from a musical stave, children are also taught aural skills, simple improvisation and performance skills. For pupils who wish to do so, there is the option to sit exams through ABRSM. Trial lessons are available on request.

We are thrilled to welcome two new teachers to our team this year! Amy Naulls and Grainne Rooney (piano). They both bring with them a wealth of tutoring experience and knowledge. Welcome Grainne and Amy! 🎹Grainne graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with an honours degree in music in 2011. Grainne was then awarded a studentship to study MSc in ‘Music in the Community’ at Edinburgh University under Prof Nigel Osborne MBE. Since graduating, Grainne has specialised in tutoring piano where barriers to learning are present and has worked with children and adults with neurodiversities, brain injuries, MS, and language barriers. She uses her knowledge of child development to keep lessons enjoyable and engaging for each individual learning style. Amy is a traditional musician currently in her Honours year of study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, specialising in traditional music. With years of performance experience, she has played with various groups at festivals and concerts across the UK and internationally. Passionate about sharing music with others, Amy is excited to bring her enthusiasm, creativity, and experience to piano lessons, helping young students build both skill and confidence in their playing. ...
